Your Amazing Hands is the first picture book in the Training Young Hearts series by Abbey Wedgeworth. Like What Are Hands For?, Abbey’s board book that teaches toddlers how to use their hands to glorify God, Your Amazing Hands helps older children learn to do the same.
The book features lovely illustrations and includes children of various nationalities and abilities which I appreciate. The diversity reflected in the pages of this book is a sweet reminder that heaven will be inhabited by people of all tribes, tongues, nations, and abilities. The illustrations are vibrant and compelling, and the story is written in rhyming format. All of these elements work together well to capture the attention of young readers.
The story contrasts sinful ways we use our hands and teaches them that Jesus spread His hands out to nailed to the cross. The book reminds children that because of Jesus, we can use our hands for God’s glory with the help of the Holy Spirit. It even mentions each member of the Trinity which I find so helpful in establishing a foundation of sound theology early on. We really enjoyed Your Amazing Hands and can’t wait to read more in this series!
