Reagandoodle & Little Buddy Welcome Baby is the first children’s book featuring Reagandoodle. If you’re not familiar with Reagandoodle, he is an Australian labradoodle dog made famous via the Instagram account operated by his owner, Sandi Swiridoff. Reagandoodle & Little Buddy Welcome Baby tells the tale of Reagandoodle and Sandi’s grandson, Little Buddy, reacting to the addition of a new baby, named Baby Girl, to their family. This book is great for helping older siblings welcome younger siblings to the family.

My three year old has enjoyed reading this story repeatedly. Many of the things that Little Budy does to care for Baby Girl are things that she has done to show love to her new sister. One of the things she gets excited about is that Little Buddy sings Jesus Loves Me to Baby Girl. We do this in our family, so it’s fun for my oldest child to relate.

The story in and of itself is sweet and I love that it’s crafted by author Wendy Dunham and illustrator Michal Sparks, the duo behind the Tales of Buttercup Grove series. The illustrations are beautifully done and even though this is a children’s book, I love the writing. My favorite line from the book is, “. . . the whole world smiles when a baby comes home.”

One really fun fact about the Reagandoodle story is that Little Buddy is adopted and at the time of the book’s publication, his parents were the foster parents for Baby Girl (she was officially adopted by them about 3 weeks ago!). I like that this book sheds light on these special ways that God works to build families. There’s even a section at the end of the book that shares about this in a manner for young children to understand.

The end of the book also contains a few pages featuring photos of Reagandoodle, Little Buddy, and Baby Girl which my oldest daughter enjoys looking at. We purchased our copy of Regandoodle & Little Buddy Welcome Baby on sale from LifeWay but it is available now at all major booksellers.
