Description
What Are Mouths For? is one of the first additions to the Training Young Hearts series of books by mother and author, Abbey Wedgeworth. Abbey’s miscarriages resources, including her podcast Held and book by the same name, really helped me through my miscarriage. I’ve enjoyed following her on Instagram and have learned so much from her when it comes to parenting so I was thrilled when I learned she would be writing a series of children’s books.
What Are Mouths For? is a board book with lovely illustrations and flaps for little ones to lift as they are read to. I love that the book is interactive, contains aesthetically pleasing illustrations, and is theologically rich. You might not expect to read much theology in such a short book but What Are Mouths For? is packed full of simple truth and does an excellent job of clearly explaining the gospel. The book helps young readers understand that their mouths are made for worship and God’s glory not the things that little ones typically do with their mouths like biting, saying unkind words, and lying.
