Magnolia Market in Waco is a popular destination for our family members when they come to visit. My mom came and stayed with us for a month when Ava was born and while I was really hoping to squeeze in a Magnolia trip, it just didn’t happen.
I had kind of joked with her at one point that she could come back in May for a Mother’s Day at Magnolia. You can imagine my surprise when she called me on Saturday to inform me that she, my youngest sister, and my niece would be visiting Tuesday-Friday. I may or may not have cried like a baby.
Having a new baby is hard enough as it is but having to take care of both of my kids in a season where Derek’s job has required him to travel two weeks out of each month (and work crazy hours when he’s in town) has been weighing heavily on my soul.
I’m so grateful for God’s kindness in bringing my family to town again sooner than I expected. It’s always nice to have some extra hands on deck to help out and I’m pretty much always down for a Waco trip.
The trip felt especially sweet because Derek’s boss told him last Thursday that he would need to travel out of town to Fort Stockton for work Thursday-Sunday. Derek wasn’t here for Mother’s Day and while I don’t care much for Hallmark Holidays, there was just a sting to the fact that he had to be gone (again) so unexpectedly.
Derek’s job schedule has been all over the place as of late. I usually grow discouraged when he has to travel far for work so I pray and ask God to change things and He often does! I prayed about this week in particular since my family would be here and the Lord kindly answered in my favor. Although Derek wasn’t able to participate in our Magnolia visit, I’m grateful we all got to spend time with him when we arrived home.
Our trip to Magnolia wasn’t exactly on Mother’s Day, but it was close enough. I’m so grateful for how God works and how He allowed my family to
Here are some photos documenting our trip – a digital scrapbook, if you will. I hope y’all enjoy!
