I first came across the Function of Beauty line of haircare products on a recent Target run. What caught my eye about them is that they have different products available for different hair types. My hair is naturally curly and often, very frizzy. In the early stages of my current pregnancy, I experienced hair loss like never before which left my curls pretty thin. Although my doctor said this was a normal occurrence due to hormonal shifts, I was still pretty embarrassed by the state of my hair. When I received the Function of Beauty Curly Hair Shampoo and Conditioner along with the Strengthen and Curl Definition Booster Shots, I was excited to give them a try. The hair care system works by adding at least two booster shots to the shampoo and conditioner.
I was pretty skeptical that changing out my shampoo and conditioner would make a difference for my hair type but the Function of Beauty products proved me wrong. After a few uses, I noticed that my curls held their shape better than they had in a while. The curls on my left side tend to be flatter and look more like waves. However, upon using the Function of Beauty products along with my favorite curly hair products including Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Pacifica’s Pineapple Curl Cream, I noticed that both sides of my hair had similar curl patterns. I generally check the rating of most of the products that go on my body using the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database. I found that the Function of Beauty Curly Hair Shampoo has a rating of 4 which is reasonable enough for me to continue using it. No one else in my family uses curl specific shampoo though so I’m not sure that I will end up purchasing the Function of Beauty products specifically for me although I am certainly considering it.
