I was excited when Influenster gave me the opportunity to participate in their Good & Gather Target BTS (Back to School) campaign featuring Target’s Good & Gather Original Pancake & Waffle Mix! I love Target and I love pancakes so this campaign was the perfect fit for me! Making the pancakes was simple – the recipe only calls for water added to the mix. If you desire to have a more fluffy and flavorful pancake or waffle, you can add milk or buttermilk. Since the mix is simple, I enjoyed spicing it up with cinnamon and bananas. The directions were very easy to follow and included the helpful tip of waiting for the pan to be hot prior to adding the batter.
The ingredients included some that I was familiar with and could pronounce as well as others that I’m not fond of like soybean oil and natural flavor. The Good & Gather Original Pancake Mix also contains sodium aluminum phosphate as part of a leavening agent which I assume is baking powder. I understand why companies use it but I also know that aluminum free baking powder exists so I would’ve preferred if this mix didn’t contain it.
The flavor of the pancakes was good but I didn’t find it to be as good as my favorite homemade pancakes. My husband, on the other hand, loved the mix and thought it was better than the pancakes we make from scratch. The mix is only $2.49 for 32 ounces which is very reasonable for a convenient breakfast option. Although we enjoyed the pancakes and are grateful to have tested them out, I don’t see this as a product that we will be regularly purchasing since we have a tried and true recipe that we enjoy.
