Last year I began the tradition of mailing Christmas photo cards to our friends and family members. We took a quick photo in front of our house using my tripod and the timer on my camera. It took a few tries to get everyone to look at the camera at the same time and it was really cold outside which made the shoot almost unbearable (but still totally worth it!). Although our photo was far from perfect, having it is so sweet to see what our family looked like one year ago and to ponder how the Lord has worked in our lives since then.
I’ve made it my aim to have at least one family photoshoot a year. I’m not a professional photographer by any means and I would love to cultivate more consistency in my photos (I’ve only recently learned about how to best use aperture!) but nonetheless, I’m grateful for how our photos turned out this year and for the priceless keepsake of precious memories. Here are a few of my favorites from our shoot. In many of the photos, Ava is holding a donut. At one point, we placed it on top of my lens to encourage her to look at the camera but she was not happy unless the donut was in her hand. Addie brought a baby headband that but she’s obsessed with and it somehow made its way onto her head for most of the photos! We did the best we could with what we had and I hope to keep improving. We used Snapfish to make a little photo album so we can look at the photos any time we want. The girls have loved looking at a book with them in it and I love that we can enjoy the memories and not just leave them on my hard drive to die. I trust that we’ll enjoy these photos for years to come.
